As Investment Advisor at Millen Capital my role comprises two main functions; investment research & portfolio construction (specialising in the use of absolute return funds), and managing the business at an operational level.
The clients I advise are typically business owners or partners of law and accountancy firms, whose portfolios range in size from £100,000 to £40m.
I started my career shortly after graduating in Financial Services from Manchester Metropolitan University, and now have 12 years' financial services experience, mostly working with HNWIs. Prior to working with Millen Capital I worked at NatWest Private Bank as a Private Banker.
My reason for joining Millen Capital was I wanted to join a business where I could utilise my skills and ideas to help the business grow. Since joining Millen Capital in December 2008 new business has increased fourfold and prior to our recent move, fixed costs had been reduced by approximately 20% over the same period (Dec 08 - Dec 2010).
Interests
I have been involved with helping build www.abusyworld.com, through which thousands of business owners and professionals have connected and are growing their businesses. I take a keen interest in all things business, and am an avid reader of business biographies.
I am also a keen sportsman having played both tennis and rugby to county level, although these days I spend more time watching than playing, preferring to spend free time with my wife Alessandra and young sons Thomas and Luca. I do however still manage to squeeze in 3 – 4 gym sessions during the week.
